Kelvan

'Kelvan' or 'Gadagner' is the bride's formal farewell meal as a maiden in her parental home. This ceremony is not only conducted by the parents before the wedding but also by each of the close families and friends.
The bride is seated at a table which has been decorated with 'rangoli', patterns made from coloured powder and lentils, in the midst of which is a silver 'thaali' (platter) specially laid out for her. A feast containing all her favourite dishes on are made on this day.

I have been lucky to have plenty of kelavns in the last month....here is preview at what happens at most of my kelvans
